Public Finance Investment Banking Intern – Hospitality | Piper Sandler

• Team: You will join the national Public Finance group, specifically the Hospitality Finance team, providing support to senior bankers.
• Mission: Provide extensive analytical and quantitative support for senior bankers to deliver investment banking services, raising capital for hospitality-related needs and infrastructure projects.
• Tech Stack: Excel, DBC Finance (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Model: Develop comprehensive quantitative financial models to structure and optimize public, public-private, and private transactions.
• Propose: Prepare presentations and responses for proposals and new business development initiatives.
• Analyze: Conduct analyses on client capital structure, debt capacity, and credit profiles, using public and internal resources.
• Research: Monitor and track activities of credit rating agencies in target sectors, maintaining relevant credit report databases and briefing bankers on trends.
• Document: Assist in the preparation of critical bond documents, including credit presentations, offering memorandums, pricing materials, and legal documents.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum B.S. or B.A. with a major in finance, real estate, hospitality, business, or a related field; a student seeking advancement within the firm.
• Experience: 0-2 years preferred, with experience in hospitality, real estate investment and underwriting, or hospitality finance and underwriting being a plus.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, strong analytical and quantitative abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and effective project management.
• Bonus: Working knowledge of DBC Finance, a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail in a deadline-sensitive environment.
