The Role: Prompt Engineer Intern

This is a unique, one-of-one Prompt Engineer Intern position designed to embed directly within the Thunderforge team. Your primary objective will be to build better prompts and agent architecture in direct support of AI-enabled Wargaming initiatives. This role offers a clear path to conversion into a Junior Applied ML Engineer position upon successful completion and return offer.

Key Responsibilities (will be one or two of the below):

  • Working with Classical optimizers and non-LLM ML algorithms.
  • Exploring the Geospatial abilities of AI and developing critical benchmarks.
  • Building robust test and evaluation tooling to accurately measure the effectiveness of LLMs when applied to the complex Wargaming problem space.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a 3rd or 4th year undergrad student, or a Masters or PhD student, with a specialized focus in machine learning/artificial intelligence.
  • Must have successfully completed at least 1 upper-division machine learning class.
  • Possess previous experience from an Applied ML or LLM-adjacent internship.
  • Must have prior experience working with LLM Agent Graphs, Classical optimizers, or Fine-tuning an LLM.
  • U.S. Person status is required, as this position necessitates access to export-controlled data.
  • Bonus: Previous experience in GIS/geospatial domains.

The salary range provided is an estimate based on various compensation factors and includes base salary only. Actual salary offers may vary depending on (but not limited to) work experience, education/training, critical skills, and business considerations.
