Job Description: Project Management Intern (Signal Portfolio Group)
This internship offers a chance to gain foundational project management skills within Amtrak’s real-world rail industry environment. Interns will work under the supervision of a project/program manager and collaborate with various stakeholders, including department leaders, project/program managers, business analysts, and functional leads.
Essential Functions:
• Collect, consolidate, and cleanse project performance data from multiple sources.
• Support project teams with status reporting, documentation, controls, and processes to ensure compliance.
• Create and maintain documentation, including organization charts, distribution lists, project logs, schedules, requirements documents, budgets, and status reports.
• Assist in developing and reviewing project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate project logistics (calendars, events, meetings, materials, equipment).
• Reproduce and distribute project documents and reports.
• Perform project budget tracking and reporting, and project schedule monitoring.
• Develop and maintain project management artifacts according to Amtrak standards and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at an accredited institution in Business, Data Science, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Transportation), or Construction Management/Project Management.
• At least one year of completed undergraduate studies (sophomore level or above).
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project).
• Junior status or above.
Compensation and Benefits:
• hourly range: $17.50 – $35.00 per hour (based on factors including school year and program of study).
• Amtrak rail pass privileges.
• One (1) PTO day per academic year.
Internship Dates: May 19th – August 8th, 2025
Location: New York
Work Arrangement: Onsite
