Job Description: Project Management Intern

This position provides engineering or construction management students the chance to gain hands-on experience in project management activities. Working under the direct supervision of a Project Manager, the intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

Onsite Work Inspections: Ensuring compliance with contract drawings and specifications, checking construction layout, estimating quantities, performing grade checking, and cut/fill calculations.
Documentation and Coordination: Developing and maintaining submittal and design clarification/verification request (DCVR) registers, coordinating receipt of submittals (schedules, work plans, progress payments, etc.) and DCVRs, managing the routing of submittals.
Quality Control and Testing: Assisting with coordinating quality control and testing to ensure project compliance with bid specifications.
Scheduling: Scheduling ARRC work crews and equipment, and contractors for construction projects.
Cost Tracking and Reporting: Performing project cost tracking, researching invoice information, compiling cost data, verifying contract unit-price quantities, and producing project cost reports.
Project Scheduling: Assisting with producing and updating project schedules.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited college or university in a curriculum leading to a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• Completion of at least one year of undergraduate Engineering or Construction Management curriculum.
• Knowledge of basic engineering concepts and principles.
• Knowledge of advanced math (geometry, algebra, and trigonometry) and basic accounting for performing engineering and financial calculations.
• Knowledge of elementary surveying including operation of a transit, theodolite, and proper field note techniques.
• Ability to operate a computer and use MS Excel and MS Word.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
