The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) in New York City is a large agency dedicated to protecting and promoting the safety and well-being of children and families. Their services encompass child welfare, juvenile justice, and community supports, including foster care, subsidized childcare, and responses to child maltreatment allegations. The Division of Administration (ADMIN) within ACS provides the resources and support necessary for the agency’s effective operation. ADMIN’s responsibilities span various areas like procurement, facilities management, personnel, administrative services, and accountability/audit, encompassing building maintenance, workplace safety, transportation, purchasing, and records management. The Chief of Staff (COS) within ADMIN plays a crucial role in overseeing strategic and operational functions across several departments, including ACS Police, Design and Construction, Lease Management, Building Operations, Detention Facilities, Food and Nutrition Services, and Transportation Services.
Job Description: Project Management Graduate Intern
ADMIN is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Management Graduate Intern to work directly alongside the Chief of Staff. This is a hands-on internship offering significant project management experience. The intern will support the executive team in tracking projects, ensuring tasks move forward strategically, and meeting deadlines independently. The position requires a solutions-oriented, critical thinker with strong people skills and organizational abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create and maintain tracking systems to monitor the progress of internal projects (e.g., employee onboarding).
• Collaborate with interagency leads and team members, providing feedback via email and spreadsheets to support unit progress and goal achievement.
• Draft, summarize, and prepare memos and agendas with minimal supervision.
• Assist in the development and execution of wellness programs.
• Contribute as a thought partner to support office operations (e.g., welcoming new staff, supporting office functions and planning).
Learning Outcomes:
• Gain practical experience in creating tracking systems and independently managing multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
• Develop strong written and verbal communication skills through collaboration with team members and interagency leads.

Additional Information:
• The position requires adherence to Section 424-A of the New York Social Services Law regarding inquiries about child abuse and maltreatment reports.
• Applicants must be graduate students currently enrolled in or having graduated within one year of the current program year.
• The salary is $26.23 per hour. New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment, with exceptions for certain city employees.
