Position Overview

Slayden Constructors Inc. is actively seeking a construction-focused Project Intern to join our dedicated project team in Gypsum, Colorado. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring professionals to gain hands-on experience in heavy civil construction, particularly within water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities)

As a Project Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our project team by:

• Assisting with various construction administration duties, including project controls, change orders, and RFIs (Requests for Information).
• Preparing look-ahead schedules by gathering information from subcontractors.
• Aiding in the generation of essential project reports, such as submittal and RFI logs, and ensuring robust document control.
• Efficiently processing Submittals and RFIs.
• Maintaining and updating working drawings with the latest RFIs and changes, ensuring the team always operates with the most current information.
• Performing simple calculations as needed for project support.
• Providing valuable technical support for the construction effort.
• Contacting vendors to gather necessary information and materials data.
• Complying diligently with all company policies and procedures.
• Adhering strictly to company health and safety guidelines and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of fellow employees.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for motivated candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
• A demonstrated interest in a career in heavy construction.
• Experienced with the complete Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Exhibits strong interpersonal abilities, crucial for collaborating effectively in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrates experience with or an aptitude for construction and/or mechanical processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior internship experience in the heavy construction industry is highly desirable.

Compensation

• Project mobility is offered within a defined home-to-project range.
• Hourly Wage: $23.00 – $26.00 per hour, depending on prior internship experience in your field.
