District Overview: Kiewit Offshore Services

Kiewit Offshore Services is a specialized business unit of Kiewit Corporation, focusing on the construction of structurally complex jackets and topsides for offshore oil drilling rigs. Located in Ingleside, TX, just 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi, our expansive 550-acre fabrication yard hosts 300 staff employees and 1400 craft employees year-round. Location

This position is based out of Ingleside, TX (Corpus Christi, TX area).

Responsibilities

As an intern in Project Engineering, you will gain exposure to and contribute to various critical aspects of construction management, including:

  • Field engineering and operation planning.
  • Cost control and project scheduling.
  • Quantity tracking and material procurement.
  • Contract administration and estimating.
  • Supervision of field activities.
  • Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and addressing minor technical problems arising during construction.
  • Maintaining essential records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, and other relevant data.
  • Planning and scheduling specific job segments or entire jobs.
  • Investigating problems and reported incidents, identifying and recommending appropriate solutions or alternatives.
  • Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities) and pricing.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to facilitate the handling and expediting of material deliveries.

Qualifications

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to travel or relocate as needed for project requirements.
  • Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August).
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide range of climates and environments.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt on our projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
