Project Engineer Internship at Helix Electric
The Project Engineer Internship at Helix Electric offers a hands-on learning experience with meaningful responsibilities that directly impact projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaboration: Develop relationships with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors to foster a team approach and build a foundation for a career in construction.
• Material Tracking: Collaborate with the superintendent to track materials, maintain positive relationships with vendors, and coordinate project close-out activities.
• Safety Advocate: Champion the Helix safety culture by monitoring jobsite safety, encouraging accident prevention, and implementing best practices.
• Change Order Management: Engage in the Change Order process and gain experience with Accubid for estimating purposes.
• Subcontract Analysis: Partner with the project team to analyze subcontract agreements to understand scope of work and project pricing.
• Procurement: Participate in material and equipment procurement processes.
• BIM Integration: Collaborate closely with the BIM department and actively participate in the coordination and planning process.
• Documentation: Produce and maintain detailed job logs, including transmittals, submittals, and RFIs.
• Quality Control: Gain exposure to and monitor quality control processes.
• Labor Scheduling: Manage labor schedules by working closely with superintendents and project managers.
• Prefabricated Assemblies: Create and order prefabricated assemblies to optimize planning and ensure on-time delivery.
• Jobsite Knowledge: Participate in job walks to gain comprehensive trade knowledge and utilize this knowledge to enhance company performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous construction or internship experience preferred.
• Highly motivated with a strong sense of initiative.
• Basic math skills with the ability to calculate and analyze data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Mindset for continuous improvement of department processes.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Starting hourly Base Pay: Between USD $21.00 and $24.00 per hour, dependent on factors like location, training, experience, and market demands.
