Job Summary

Messer Construction Co. is seeking Project Engineer Co-ops to support various construction projects directly at the project site. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist the site Project Manager and Project Engineer in the comprehensive management and administration of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities and What You Will Do

  • Site & Building Layout: Assist with the accurate layout of project sites and building components.
  • Document Control: Manage and maintain project documentation, ensuring all necessary records are organized and accessible.
  • Quality Control: Support the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance processes to ensure work meets specified standards.
  • Field Production Analysis: Analyze field activities and production rates to identify efficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Project Controls Input: Contribute to project scheduling, cost reporting, and the development of Project Management (PM) solutions.
  • Subcontractor & Workforce Coordination: Assist in coordinating the activities of subcontractors and the on-site workforce.
  • Shop Drawing/Submittal Control: Manage the review, tracking, and distribution of shop drawings and project submittals.
  • Material & Equipment Expediting: Ensure timely ordering, delivery, and availability of necessary materials and equipment.
  • Subcontractor/Supplier Solicitation: Aid in the process of soliciting bids and proposals from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and iPads for various project tasks.

Qualifications and What You Will Bring

  • Education: Must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree. A focus on Civil Engineering or Construction Management, with an emphasis on construction processes, industry knowledge, and delivery methods, is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and project stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
