Project Accountant | BKF Engineers
The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid-remote role for a Project Accountant at BKF Engineers, requiring one day per week in the Oakland office with the remainder of the week remote. BKF is a multi-service infrastructure consulting firm, established over 110 years ago, providing civil engineering, construction management, environmental, planning, and surveying services across California, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond for transportation, water resources, land development, government, and federal clients. What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Support: Contribute to the month-end closing process and perform necessary reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
• Billing Management: Generate accurate client invoices and meticulously review draft invoices for correct labor and expense charges, ensuring adherence to billing rates and ceilings, and making appropriate adjustments and reclassifications.
• Project Cost Analysis: Collaborate with Project Managers to review project costs by comparing actual expenditures against established budgets.
• Client Resolution: Investigate and resolve client inquiries regarding invoicing and provide comprehensive support documentation as requested.
• Reporting & Setup: Prepare essential project financial reports, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) aging, Accounts Receivable (AR) aging, and project budget versus actuals, and support project managers with project setup and ongoing maintenance within Deltek Vantagepoint.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Prior experience in the Architecture or Engineering industry is preferred.
• Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude, exceptional communication skills (written and oral), a high level of accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail. Solid knowledge of Excel is essential.
• Bonus: Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint Accounting system is preferred. The ability to effectively interface with project managers, clients, and architects is also beneficial.
