The Tone:
This is an independent contractor role with The Comforted Canine, located in the St. Petersburg / Clearwater metro area. The Comforted Canine contracts with professional dog sitters and walkers to provide reliable, detail-oriented care for client dogs. This role is essential for delivering peace of mind to dog parents by ensuring their pets receive consistent, high-quality attention and exercise according to precise instructions and proactive communication.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Care Execution: Precisely follow all client care instructions for feeding, water, potty breaks, and medication administration as needed.
• Pet Enrichment: Provide appropriate exercise, play, training reinforcement, and companionship for dogs during visits and walks.
• Safety & Security: Walk dogs safely with professional leash handling and situational awareness, ensuring client homes are left clean and secure.
• Home Support: Complete light home-care basics as requested, including managing mail, plants, trash, and packages.
• Client Communication: Send thorough updates and photos through the company app after every completed visit or walk.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be 18 years or older with real dog-care experience; professional experience is a significant plus but not strictly required.
• Experience: Confidently handle dogs from small to large, understanding various temperaments. Experience managing detailed schedules, keys, access instructions, and intricate pet routines. Physical capability for demanding work, including walking, stairs, bending, and extended time on your feet.
• Skills: Strong customer service and proactive communication abilities. Proficiency with smartphone applications for sending updates and photos. Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions exactly. High level of responsibility for home security and safety protocols, including handling unexpected situations calmly.
• Bonus: Pet first aid/CPR certification. Experience with medication administration (pills, injections, fluids). Experience handling leash pulling, reactivity, or anxious dogs using safe, positive methods. Availability during peak demand, especially summer and winter holidays.
