Job Description: Product Software Engineer Intern
As a Product Software Engineer Intern at Meraki, you will contribute to the development of their innovative cloud-managed IT solutions. You will be involved in bringing new features to life and enhancing existing ones.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement features (primarily in C/C++) that improve the reliability, simplicity, and performance of Meraki devices.
• Contribute to making the devices more flexible and powerful.
• Work on bringing up the Linux-based system on new hardware platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on the design of new platforms.
Qualifications:
• Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, ECE, EE, ME, or STEM related field (in progress), OR pursuing a software boot camp (or educational training program) and/or technical AA with a strong foundation in computer science.
• Technical Skills:
• Comfortable writing systems-level C/C++ (or experience writing your own OS).
• Familiarity with developing and implementing computer networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing protocols, IPv6, etc.).
• Experience working with Linux on embedded platforms.
• Understanding of OS fundamentals and experience working in both kernel and user space.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong team player who enjoys collaborating and contributing to a tight-knit, hard-working environment.
• Passionate about making a positive impact through your work.
• Previous internship or large project experience.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
Program Overview:
• Duration: 12 or 16 weeks, depending on the program.
• Placement: Directly onto subteams within Meraki’s engineering organization.
• Project Work:
• A small starter project to help you get familiar with the team and processes.
• A larger, multi-functional project that allows you to explore new languages and technologies.
• Mentorship: 1:1 mentorship with an experienced engineer who provides guidance, feedback, and support.
