As our global footprint continues to expand, we are seeking a motivated Product Management Intern to join our dynamic team in either Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL.

About the Internship

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Product Management within a global leader in safety science. As a Product Management Intern, you will be immersed in projects that contribute directly to our mission, working within one of our critical operating units. You will learn the fundamentals of product lifecycle management, market analysis, and strategic development, making a tangible impact on real-world challenges.

Key Learning & Achievement Areas

As a Product Management Intern, you will have the opportunity to work within one of the following key operating units, contributing to services that ensure safety, security, and performance across diverse industries:

1. Built Environment (BE)

The Built Environment unit provides unparalleled technical knowledge, expertise, and comprehensive testing, inspection, certification, advisory, and commissioning services. We support customers globally throughout the entire lifecycle of their products and buildings. UL Solutions acts as a trusted partner, offering proactive insights on safe, secure, and sustainable buildings, robust risk management solutions, and tenant wellness and safety validations. Your work may touch upon areas such as:

• Building Materials, Suppression Systems, and Building Envelope: Ensuring the safety and performance of essential structural and protective components.
• Life Safety, Detection, and Security Systems: Contributing to the development and evaluation of critical systems for occupant protection.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Understanding and supporting the standards for equipment designed to protect individuals.

2. Energy and Industrial Automation (EIA)

Within the Energy and Industrial Automation (EIA) unit, UL Solutions delivers cutting-edge solutions for safety, security, and performance across the value chains of advanced industries. Our impact is global, yet focused locally through collaborative teams. Examples of projects and areas you may contribute to include:

• Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Systems and Equipment: Exploring the rapidly evolving EV infrastructure landscape.
• Batteries and Energy Storage Systems (ESS): Contributing to the safety and performance of next-generation energy solutions.
• Renewable Energy: Solar & Wind: Supporting sustainable energy initiatives through rigorous safety standards.
• Industrial Robotics: Understanding the safety implications and market needs for advanced automation.
• Power and Control Equipment: Delving into the critical components that power industrial operations.
• Industrial Machinery: Ensuring the safety and efficiency of manufacturing and processing equipment.
• Oil & Gas and Hazardous Locations Equipment: Addressing specialized safety requirements for high-risk environments.
• Global Market Access Requirements for Products & Components: Researching and understanding international compliance for market entry.
• Industrial Ecosystems: Analyzing the interconnectedness and safety aspects of complex industrial environments.

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated and intellectually curious individual who meets the following criteria:

• Currently a rising senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Product Management, or a closely related field.
• A highly motivated self-starter with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment.
• Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to dissect complex issues.
• Some foundational knowledge of the fundamentals involved in business case development.
• Capacity and eagerness to understand complex technical products and systems.
• Proficient in conducting in-depth market research and competitive intelligence gathering.
• Exhibits natural curiosity and an openness to share ideas, opportunities, and new approaches.
• Comfortable and articulate when interacting with external stakeholders, including business partners, customers, and representatives from public/private sectors.
• Confident in presenting work activities and deliverables to leadership.
• Must possess an indefinite right to work in the United States.

• Competitive Compensation: The hourly rate for this role is $25.00.
• Relocation Support: Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus to assist with housing, travel, and other relocation expenses, subject to specific terms and conditions.
