Kargo is on a mission to build the next generation of an ad platform that is AI-native, workflow-driven, and genuinely useful. This requires product thinkers who can seamlessly blend business instinct, technical fluency, and a passion for AI experimentation.

This internship is designed for hands-on experience, emphasizing real ownership of significant problems rather than just shadowing. Interns will work directly with product leadership, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams on high-impact initiatives aligned with Kargo’s 2026 strategic pillars:

  • Ad tech agentic workflows
  • Creative intelligence and performance science
  • Scalable infrastructure and automation

Internship Program Details

  • Duration: 10 weeks, from June 3 to August 9.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Interns will tackle tangible projects across several critical areas:

AI Workflow Acceleration

  • Audit an existing internal workflow (e.g., RFP response, campaign setup, reporting).
  • Identify areas of friction and opportunities for automation.
  • Prototype an AI-powered solution using modern tools (LLMs, agents, internal APIs).
  • Validate the prototype with 5–10 users.
  • Ship a v1 or provide a structured recommendation.

Creative Performance Intelligence

  • Analyze performance data to uncover patterns across different ad formats or industry verticals.
  • Develop a lightweight scoring or insight framework.
  • Collaborate with engineering to test a surfaced insight within the Kargo platform.

Platform Simplification

  • Map an existing user journey across various systems.
  • Identify redundant steps or system fragmentation.
  • Propose and validate a simplified, unified user experience.
  • Create a Product Requirements Document (PRD) and a clickable prototype.

Internal Tooling / Automation

  • Identify a repetitive manual process within the company.
  • Quantify the time wasted on this process.
  • Build or prototype an automation solution (using AI or scripting).
  • Measure and report the time saved by the automation.

Across these projects, you will:

  • Write product briefs and PRDs, and create workable prototypes.
  • Define clear success metrics for your initiatives.
  • Partner closely with engineers throughout the development cycle.
  • Present your progress and findings to leadership.
  • Ship something tangible and impactful by the end of the summer.

What You’ll Learn

  • Direct exposure to executive product strategy.
  • Real ownership of a clearly scoped product initiative.
  • Mentorship from experienced product leadership.
  • Hands-on experience operating in an AI-forward environment.

Who Kargo Is Looking For (Qualifications)

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Design, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical thinking and keen business intuition.
  • Comfortable reading technical documentation and engaging in discussions about APIs, data flows, and system constraints.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, coding copilots, agent frameworks).
  • Demonstrated experience building something: an app, model, automation, startup project, or hackathon prototype.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong Bonus Signals

Candidates exhibiting these traits will stand out:

  • You’ve shipped something that users genuinely used.
  • You have experience building automations with Python, SQL, or no-code tools.
  • You’ve experimented with LLM prompting, fine-tuning, or agent workflows.
  • You possess an understanding of digital advertising, marketplaces, or platform economics.
  • You can quickly transform messy problems into structured, actionable thinking.

What Kargo Is Looking For (Beyond GPA)

Kargo prioritizes cultural fit and mindset:

  • You ask “why” before you ask “how.”
  • You are proactive and don’t wait for instructions.
  • You are comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • You think in terms of impact and outcomes, not just tasks.
  • You can zoom out to understand strategic goals and zoom in for execution details.
  • You care about tangible outcomes, not just appearances.
