About the Job

Salary Range: $18 – $33 per hour

The Agile Defense Labs Internship Program is designed for aspiring professionals to gain practical, hands-on experience within a dynamic product organization. Interns will contribute to real-world projects, learn agile methodologies, and develop essential skills in product management and business analysis. The program specifically supports the Workforce Product Owner in delivering innovative solutions, fostering growth, providing mentorship, and preparing participants for careers in the tech industry.

The Intern will join the Agile Defense Labs engineering team to help build and enhance their suite of AI-driven cybersecurity and automation products. This role is ideal for individuals eager to gain experience with modern software development practices, cloud-native architectures, and cutting-edge technologies used in enterprise and defense environments.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of backend services, APIs, and integrations for Agile Defense Labs’ products.
• Support front-end development, UX improvements, and bug fixes in collaboration with design and QA teams.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and agile development ceremonies.
• Assist in building automated tests and improving CI/CD pipelines.
• Research emerging tools, libraries, or frameworks to enhance product performance and reliability.
• Help improve developer documentation and internal technical knowledge bases.

Qualifications:

Education, Background, and Years of Experience:
Strong programming fundamentals in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or Java).
Basic understanding of software development lifecycle and version control (Git/GitHub).
Familiarity with REST APIs and cloud services.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Required Skills (ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS – considered beneficial/strong preference):
• Experience with React, Next.js, or similar front-end frameworks.
• Exposure to backend frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or FastAPI.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of basic security practices and secure coding principles.
• Prior contributions to open-source projects or a GitHub portfolio.

Preferred Skills (often indicates slight preference over “Required Additional Skills”):
• The role supports a hybrid or remote-friendly model, depending on location and business needs.
• Requires regular collaboration with distributed engineering teams via Slack and Zoom.
