About Company

Immobileyes is a start-up company focused on developing a new laser-based security device. This innovative technology utilizes multiple low-power lasers to cause temporary visual disruption, providing a non-lethal tool to deter intruders and potentially aggressive suspects.

The company aims to serve multiple markets, including home/commercial security, law enforcement, and the military. A handheld unit is planned for launch in 2022, with drone and wall-mounted versions to follow in the future.

Immobileyes is Kent-based and currently housed within AlphaMicron, a technology R&D company with a 22-year track record of innovation for the US Air Force, known for developing the world’s first electronically switchable eyewear.

Their ground-breaking laser technology has been recognized by DoD technology scouts as “unique” and something the military, law enforcement, and Homeland Security can use “Right Now.” The technology is poised to up-end the traditional security model of detection and response by adding INTERVENTION before police arrive, offering a safer alternative compared to other options currently in use due to its non-lethal nature.

Job Description: Product Engineer / Manager

What We Are Looking For:

Immobileyes is seeking a technical/engineering-minded leader to spearhead the product’s development. The ideal candidate is an electrical, mechanical, or similar engineer with experience in product/industrial design, eager to join a startup and develop this ground-breaking technology. The role is primarily development-focused, requiring the individual to design and build the product, take the lead in finding suppliers, and eventually manage a small team of engineers for different product versions (wall-mounted, handheld, drone-mounted, etc.). While parts of the prototype are complete, the Product Engineer / Manager will serve as the primary technical leader, guiding the product’s technical direction based on customer feedback.

Responsibilities Will Include:

Product Design & Planning: Managing, planning, and coordinating the development of new products, enhancing existing products, and developing technical solutions based on customer feedback.
Requirements Definition: Gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and defining the overall product vision.
Customer Engagement: Communicating directly with US armed forces and law enforcement personnel.
Inter-team Collaboration: Meeting and working closely with the scientific (laser) team; planning and coordinating tests to ensure the system’s safety and effectiveness.
Engineering Partnership: Collaborating closely with the engineering team to deliver successful products, including determining roadmaps and deadlines for new products and enhancements while considering priority, customer needs, financial limitations, staffing requirements, and resource availability.
Business Strategy: Developing sales forecasts and implementing pricing schedules aimed at revenue and margin growth while maintaining market competitiveness.

Candidate Requirements:

Education: Masters or Bachelor’s degree required; an Engineering or Science Degree is preferred.
Experience: 4+ years of experience in a similar or comparable role.
Technical Background: Experience developing engineered/scientific products is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience/exposure to optics or lasers, or possess hands-on electronic engineering experience.
Communication Skills: Strong written, oral, and presentation skills are essential.
