Job Description: Product Development Internship

This is a paid, temporary internship lasting 3-4 months, with positions available throughout the year. Recent graduates interested in a product development career will gain hands-on experience assisting Mattson’s Food Scientists. The internship involves supporting the entire product development process, from initial idea generation and benchtop testing to final formulation approval.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Food Scientists in all aspects of food and beverage R&D.
• Weigh and prepare formulations for diverse products (beverages, snacks, baked goods, retorted, refrigerated, and frozen foods).
• Prepare and present products for internal tastings, client meetings, shelf-life studies, and consumer testing.
• Conduct analytical tests including pH, titratable acidity, moisture analysis, Brix, water activity, Brookfield and Bostwick viscosity measurements.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate shelf-life products.
• Source and order ingredients, and liaise with suppliers for pricing and specifications.
• Input formulas and ingredient information into the ESHA Genesis program for nutritional analysis.
• Support the Consumer Insights team as needed.
• Assist with pilot plant work and off-site production facility work as needed.

Requirements:

• B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related discipline.
• Restaurant or food service experience is a plus.
• Adaptability and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
