Job Description: Procurement Internship

Summary:

Procurement Interns at CSX embark on a 10-week immersive program designed to expose them to the company’s culture and methods within the Procurement Department. Interns engage in challenging assignments that refine decision-making skills and contribute to financial performance. This internship provides a valuable opportunity for aspiring professionals to gain firsthand experience in corporate procurement while enabling CSX to identify future talent.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

Project Involvement: Interns play a pivotal role in completing designated Procurement projects, contributing to various aspects of the department’s operations.
Business Partner Collaboration: Cultivating relationships with business partners, interns analyze marketing, operating, and capital projects to understand economic trade-offs and assist in real-time business decisions.
Analytical Support: Providing analytical support for operational reviews, resource allocation, and financial valuations.
Strategic Development: Contributing to the development of short- and long-term strategies for supply chain and resource procurement.
Procurement Strategy Optimization: Assisting in the development and implementation of procurement strategies to quantify benefits and promote sound, fact-based economic decisions.
Communication and Presentation: Consulting and communicating analyses through presentations to senior management within the Procurement Department and business partners from other departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Age: At least 18 years old.
• Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related major field of study from an accredited institution.
• GPA: Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale).

Knowledge and Skills:

Academic Excellence: Demonstrate academic distinction with a strong interest and talent in procurement and supply chain management.
Leadership and Initiative: Proven leadership ability and a proactive approach.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Presentation Skills: Ability to develop and deliver presentations to senior-level audiences.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
