Process Improvement Intern | Arizona Public Service
The Tone:
This is a paid, temporary full-time internship at Arizona Public Service, located in Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid). APS is Arizona’s largest and longest-serving energy provider, dedicated to generating reliable, affordable, and clean energy for 2.7 million Arizonans across the state. This role offers invaluable, hands-on experience supporting enterprise-wide process improvement efforts across various business units, contributing to a sustainable energy future. APS aims to improve processes, strengthen problem-solving capabilities, and support a culture of continuous improvement aligned with APS priorities through its Lean Sigma Center of Excellence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Analysis: Participate in process discovery, current-state analysis, and data-driven problem solving to identify areas for improvement.
• Solution Development: Assist with defining problems, identifying waste, and developing clear, actionable improvement recommendations for various processes.
• Documentation & Standards: Document processes and support the development of standard work, ensuring consistency and efficiency across operations.
• Communication & Support: Create visual management tools, process maps, and communication materials to support Lean adoption and disseminate improvement knowledge.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners across APS to achieve project goals and support improvement activities aligned with enterprise priorities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Experience: Ongoing achievement in areas of study and training, with an emphasis on applying learning in work assignments.
• Skills: Process discovery, data-driven problem solving, process documentation, creating communication materials, and collaborative teamwork.
• Bonus: 3.0 GPA or higher.
