The Tone:
This is a full-time role for a Private Equity Associate, located in New York, NY. Careerscape is supporting a respected middle-market private equity firm in NYC to find a key team member. This position is designed as a high-trust, high-impact seat where the Associate will have real ownership over investment deals. The role involves direct interaction with management teams of portfolio companies and consistent exposure to senior partners on every workstream from sourcing to execution and portfolio management. It represents a critical opportunity to drive investment outcomes within the firm.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deal Analysis & Diligence: Lead financial modeling, valuation, and returns analysis on live deals, running quantitative and qualitative diligence across new investments.
• Investment Committee & Execution: Build investment committee memos, present recommendations, and coordinate with stakeholders (management teams, lenders, advisors, and counsel) through deal close.
• Portfolio Management: Monitor portfolio companies, attend board meetings, and support value-creation initiatives.
• Sourcing & Mentorship: Source and screen new opportunities through firm and industry networks, while also managing and mentoring analysts on workstreams across the deal lifecycle.
• Investor Relations: Support fundraising, LP updates, and quarterly portfolio reporting.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a top program with strong academic performance. They should have core domain knowledge gained from prior experience in top investment banking firms, management consulting firms (MBB or top boutique firms), or transaction advisory professionals from Big 4 with direct Private Equity deal exposure.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience is required in investment banking, consulting, or transaction advisory. This includes a proven mastery of three-statement modeling, LBO modeling, and comprehensive returns analysis essential for private equity investments.
• Skills: Strong written communication skills are critical, along with the ability to build polished investment committee materials and present clear recommendations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high intellectual curiosity and comfort owning workstreams with limited oversight. An in-office presence five days per week in Midtown, NYC, is a mandatory requirement.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include prior deal experience in a relevant sector such as consumer, healthcare, technology, industrials, or financial services. CFA candidacy or completed levels are a plus, as is direct exposure to portfolio operations or value-creation work within an investment context.
