About the Privacy Legal Internship:

This full-time, three-month summer internship (starting May 19, 2025) in the San Francisco Bay Area offers a unique opportunity to gain practical legal experience in data privacy and protection. The internship is a hybrid role, requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of commercial agreements, particularly Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), assisting in their review, drafting, and negotiation under the supervision of experienced legal team members.
• Contribute to internal processes related to privacy compliance, such as data subject rights requests, consent management, and data transfer mechanisms.
• Gain proficiency in legal operations tools, including project management platforms (e.g., Jira), contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems (e.g., Ironclad), and data lifecycle management software (e.g., OneTrust).
• Maintain the contract repository by auditing, organizing, and archiving legal agreements within Ironclad and OneTrust platforms. This includes accurately tracking and updating contract data within these CLM tools.
• Assist attorneys and contract managers with routine tasks and workflow management.
• Provide general administrative and project support for legal department initiatives and legal technology implementations.
• Develop a strong understanding of data privacy regulations and risks through research and proactive issue-spotting under the guidance of legal counsel.
• Attend organizational meetings to gain firsthand exposure to privacy-related discussions.

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in a US-accredited law school, with anticipated graduation in Spring 2025 or later.
• Demonstrated interest and understanding of US and international consumer data protection laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, state laws, GLBA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, AI regulation, biometrics).
• Relevant law school coursework or IAPP certifications (CIPP/US, CIPP/E) are advantageous.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and/or CLM software; data entry experience and familiarity with Slack and Google Workspace are preferred.
• Exceptional project management and time management skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail.
• Eagerness to learn about the fintech industry and the practical application of privacy law in an in-house setting.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, take ownership, and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies is a plus.
