The Tone:
This is an in-person internship at Walmart, located in Paola, KS. Walmart operates as a leading retail company dedicated to providing essential goods and services, including comprehensive pharmacy care, to communities across the nation. This Pre-Grad Intern role is designed to place you at the forefront of patient care, allowing you to make a direct impact within the community pharmacy setting. You will contribute to improving customer health and wellness by advocating for patient wellbeing and supporting the established pharmacy team in achieving its goals.

• Pay: $19.5–$32.5 hourly

• Mission: Support the pharmacy team in enhancing customer health and wellness and ensuring the efficient delivery of pharmacy products and services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Ensure Confidentiality: Rigorously maintain the confidentiality of sensitive patient information, documentation, and all assigned records, strictly adhering to Company policies, and local, State, and Federal guidelines, including HIPAA and PHI.
• Process Orders: Actively assist the pharmacy team in the meticulous processing of both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication orders and purchases, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in dispensing.
• Provide Patient Support: Deliver impactful patient care by recognizing individual patient needs, assessing their specific requirements, and effectively helping them navigate various clinical therapies available through the pharmacy.
• Manage Supplies: Oversee the receiving and systematic stocking of merchandise and supplies sourced from both Walmart distribution centers and external suppliers, ensuring the pharmacy remains well-equipped to serve patients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires a student who is actively enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy school, demonstrating a foundational proficiency in pharmaceutical care principles and the ability to implement best practices within a community pharmacy environment.
• Experience: While no specific years of prior experience are formally required for this internship, candidates are expected to bring capabilities such as managing inventory and maintaining the pharmacy area.
• Skills: Strong foundational skills include a commitment to following all HIPAA and PHI guidelines to protect patient privacy, an excellent ability to foster positive relationships with both customers and the pharmacy team, and a demonstrated capability to cater to individual patient needs effectively. Additionally, enthusiasm for participating in community activities, outreach, and events is valued.
• Bonus: A Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification is considered a strong preferred qualification for this position.
