Practice Group Assistant | Lewis Brisbois

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Lewis Brisbois, located in Los Angeles, CA. Lewis Brisbois is a full-service AmLaw 100 firm that provides comprehensive legal services to its clients. This role is crucial for supporting the firm’s legal secretaries and attorneys by ensuring the smooth execution of administrative tasks, matter management, and operational processes within the practice groups. This position directly contributes to the firm’s efficiency and client service capabilities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Matter Initiation: Assist the legal secretaries with the process of opening new client matters.
• Calendar Management: Support the team with calendaring and docketing duties.
• Conflict Checks: Run conflicts checks as part of the new matter intake process.
• Administrative Assistance: Perform various administrative duties as assigned by secretaries and attorneys.
• Case Support: Handle client intake, assist with closing matters, and prepare trial and deposition notebooks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma or equivalent is required, demonstrating foundational knowledge for administrative support within a legal setting.
• Experience: At least one (1) year of legal experience, with a preference for experience gained within a law firm environment. Specific experience handling client intake, closing matters, and preparing trial and deposition notebooks is essential.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
• Bonus: The ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, prioritize responsibilities, maintain and handle confidential information, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
