Power Market Internship | Kiewit
The Tone:
This is a full-time temporary internship at Kiewit, with projects spanning throughout the United States requiring extensive travel and relocation. Kiewit specializes in construction services for power generation, including natural gas plants, solar fields, nuclear facilities, and energy storage systems across North America. This role offers a hands-on, real-world learning experience to develop key skills and functions within construction management, directly contributing to vital energy infrastructure projects.

• Mission: Contribute to construction operations by developing core construction management skills and supporting power generation projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Partner with a diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial systems.
• Support: Provide administrative and construction activity support, including reviewing proposals, performing material takeoffs, and preparing cost estimates.
• Manage: Gain experience supervising subcontractors and communicating effectively with vendors on project sites.
• Implement: Prepare work plans, assure quality control, and manage and track costs and materials.
• Oversee: Schedule equipment, administer safety programs, and maintain exceptional owner relations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Broad knowledge of project scheduling and cost control, with the ability to read and interpret project owner specifications and engineering drawings, alongside working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities, effective written and verbal communication skills, and good attention to detail to recognize discrepancies.
• Bonus: Familiarity with SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Pro Log, and/or Primavera “P6”, and knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements.
