The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) is the Department of Defense’s lead laboratory for medical chemical defense research. As part of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC), the institute focuses on developing medical countermeasures to treat exposure to chemical threat agents, protecting soldiers and civilians. About the job description (Detailed):
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is offering postgraduate internships at the USAMRDC MRICD. As an ORISE participant, you will contribute to developing medical diagnostics for toxic chemical agents and their medical countermeasures.
Key responsibilities may include:
• Analytical chemistry work.
• Operating and troubleshooting instrumentation (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, and/or NMR).
• Collecting and analyzing data using software such as MS Office, Prism, Analyst, and MassHunter.
• Preparing samples from various matrices (blood, plasma, urine, polymers, etc.).
• Presenting results in reports and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
• Potentially gaining GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) regulatory experience and accreditation.

Eligibility: The qualified candidate will have an Associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree. Degree must have been received within five years of the appointment start date.
