Junior Analyst – Portfolio Management | StepStone Group

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management: Collect and reconcile private markets data from internal sources including MySQL, PDFs, and Excel files.
• Model Development: Develop and test financial models using Python, R, or VBA to support investment decision-making.
• Trend Analysis: Conduct data-driven analyses to identify trends within private markets.
• Portfolio Support: Provide support for portfolio management efforts through ad hoc analysis and research projects.
• Communication & Documentation: Communicate insights and findings to internal teams and produce written documentation of data, models, and code.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Experience: No specific years required, but previous internship or work experience in finance, consulting, or data analysis is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Solid understanding of Python, R, or VBA for data analysis; Strong attention to detail and ability to critically check work; Team-oriented mindset with effective collaboration.
• Bonus: Familiarity with financial markets, investment concepts, and private markets; Proficiency in Excel; Experience with SQL, Power BI, or data visualization tools; Willingness to take initiative.
