Job Title: Portfolio Analyst / Junior Trader

Job Description

Graham Capital Management, L.P. is seeking a Portfolio Analyst/Junior Trader to join our dynamic Portfolio Management team. This role offers a unique opportunity to sit directly on the trading floor, working closely alongside a Portfolio Manager across all facets of trading and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will bring experience in trading, quantitative analysis, and fundamental research, with particular emphasis and significant exposure to fixed income products. This position is designed for growth, with a clear path to developing into an Assistant PM role over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Portfolio Manager with financial modeling and the generation of new trade ideas.
  • Monitor the portfolio diligently and contribute to active risk management.
  • When appropriate, collect and analyze data, performing quantitative analysis on the portfolio and broader markets.
  • Develop innovative tools and analytics to enhance and streamline the portfolio management process.
  • Provide comprehensive support for research initiatives, trade execution, and automation efforts.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience on a trading desk or in a strategy/quantitative research role (either buy-side or sell-side).
  • Product Exposure: Significant exposure to fixed income products, including interest rate swaps and cash bonds.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Python and VBA, Bloomberg terminal usage, and advanced data manipulation in Microsoft Excel.
  • Financial Modeling: Proven coding and front-office financial modeling experience, particularly with yield curves and options.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience in backtesting and time series econometric analysis.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Personal Attributes: Highly motivated and intellectually curious.
  • Platform Knowledge: Exposure to trade execution platforms.

Work Location

This role requires commuting into our New York City office Mondays through Fridays.

Base Salary Range and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000. This range is based on current market information and does not include any discretionary bonus or benefits. The final annual salary paid to a successful applicant will be determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to the nature and extent of prior experience, skills, and qualifications. This wage range may be modified in the future.

In addition to the base salary, the employee in this role will be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. A wide array of benefit programs are also offered, such as medical and life insurance, 401(K) plans, and access to other healthcare programs.

Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
