Job Description:
Sahiyo is seeking a Policy and Communications Intern to assist in policy research and coordinate educational meetings to increase awareness about female genital cutting (FGC). This is a remote, unpaid internship requiring a commitment of 10 hours minimum per week for 6 months, open to individuals located anywhere within the U.S.
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Attending meetings with advocates, organizations, and legislators as needed.
• Coordinating meetings, including agendas and notes.
• Creating materials for outreach and education.
• Drafting communications for social media.
Requirements:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Hardworking, driven, energetic, results-oriented, and independent but able to keep in contact with the team.
• Eager to learn about the issue, with a focus on engaging with the community in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.
• Able to prioritize, organize, manage time well, and deliver to agreed deadlines.
