Police Report Representative I | City of Dallas

The Tone:

This role is crucial for improving the efficiency of police operations by handling non-emergency reports, thereby reducing patrol workload and ensuring accurate crime data.

• Mission: This role reduces the workload and response time for patrol operations by handling non-emergency calls and writing qualifying police reports over the phone.
• Tech Stack: AI tools, law enforcement systems, NCIC/TCIC/CJIS, Dallas Online Reporting System

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting: Interview complainants to gather necessary information and write qualifying police reports over the phone.
• Efficiency: Utilize AI tools to develop and refine reports, ensuring high accuracy and efficiency.
• Coding: Assign appropriate offense codes to reports for accurate filing, data entry, and crime statistics reporting.
• Review & Route: Review online reports for accuracy and completeness, communicating with citizens and routing reports to relevant police sections.
• Service Desk: Operate the service desk to respond to requests from Dallas Fire, Animal Control, and EBS that do not require an officer.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED with a foundation in customer service practices.
• Experience: Two (2) years of customer service experience.
• Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, basic interviewing skills, typing speed of at least 45 words per minute, proficiency with AI tools for report development, ability to obtain NCIC/TCIC/CJIS certification during probationary period, ability to obtain Basic Telecommunicator License from TCOLE within one year, and ability to obtain Expediter or Service Desk personnel Certification within probationary period.
• Bonus: Basic knowledge of crime intervention practices and principles, familiarity with Dallas area streets and highways, and an understanding of offense reporting guidelines and the Texas Penal Code.
