• Team: Reports to the Police Sergeant.
• Mission: To enforce public safety laws, prevent and investigate crime, maintain order, and protect life and property within the City of Placentia.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Enforcement: Enforce federal, state, county, and city laws, regulations, and ordinances related to public safety and law enforcement.
• Patrol: Patrol assigned areas of the city, by vehicle or on foot, to detect and prevent crime and maintain law and order.
• Response & Investigation: Respond to radio messages and citizen requests, investigate suspicious activities, and conduct preliminary investigations of various incidents and crimes.
• Documentation & Testimony: Prepare detailed reports including citations, arrest reports, crime reports, and collision reports, and provide testimony in court regarding investigations.
• Special Assignments: Participate in and carry out duties related to special assignments such as traffic, K-9, detective, SWAT, or field training officer roles as required.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, demonstrating core knowledge of law enforcement principles.
• Experience: Completion of a California Basic Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Academy within the last twelve (12) months from the date of application submission, along with a BASIC Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) certificate.
• Skills: Proficient in enforcing public safety laws, crime detection and investigation, emergency response, report writing, basic first aid and CPR, and providing court testimony.
• Bonus: Certifications in protective and lifesaving equipment, first aid, and CPR, with a willingness to complete further training and certification for specialty assignments such as motor, K-9, detective, or SWAT.
