Job Description: Platform Software Engineer Intern

The Platform Software Engineer Intern role offers practical experience in building a next-generation machine learning platform that integrates proprietary unsupervised machine learning (UML) with various supervised machine learning (SML) algorithms. The Platform Team’s primary focus is to enhance core detection algorithms and automate the training process to combat sophisticated fraud attacks effectively.

The Platform Team is specifically responsible for developing the architecture that facilitates real-time UML, which is a crucial element in DataVisor’s fraud detection capabilities. The team seeks individuals who are curious, creative, and eager to learn to contribute to the expansion of their advanced streaming and database systems that power detection.

This internship is designed for computer science students nearing graduation or recent graduates with an interest in fraud detection and machine learning. It has the potential to transition into a full-time role after the three-month internship period.

What You’ll Do With The Team:
Design and build machine learning systems that process large datasets from major consumer services globally.
• Apply unsupervised machine learning, supervised machine learning, and deep learning techniques to identify fraudulent behavior and catch fraudsters.
Build and optimize systems, tools, and validation strategies to support new features.
• Contribute to the design and building of distributed real-time systems and features.
• Utilize big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, HBase, and Cassandra to construct large-scale machine learning pipelines.
• Develop new systems leveraging real-time streaming technologies like Kafka and Flink.

Requirements:
• Current BS/MS students majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject, ideally in their final year of study.
• Demonstrated working experience in Java, Shell, and Python development.
Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL, and ORM technologies (e.g., JPA2, Hibernate) is considered a plus.
• Experience with Cassandra, HBase, Flink, Spark, or Kafka is a plus.
• Experience with the Spring Framework is a plus.
• Experience with test-driven development is a plus.
