Job Description: Planning Student

Job Title: Planning Student (Internship/Entry-level)
Location: Spokane, Washington (WA) – This is an in-office position, not remote.

Overview:
Kimley-Horn is seeking Planning students to join its Spokane, WA office. The role involves contributing to various pre-construction phases of projects, including planning, modification, permitting, and analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to solve complex problems, support project managers, and collaborate across different disciplines to help realize clients’ visions for the future built environment.

Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the pre-construction planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects, which will vary in size and scope.
• Engage in problem-solving for complex issues, assist project managers, and work collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines to bring clients’ visions for the built environment to fruition.
• Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations relevant to planning, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and its clients’ established practices, procedures, and standards.
• Evaluate development proposals to ascertain their compliance with existing zoning regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive planning and land use studies.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with various municipal and state agencies involved in projects.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be in the process of receiving a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program, specializing in one of the following majors:
• City and Regional Planning
• Urban Planning
• Transportation Planning
• Or other related majors.

Hourly Range:
$24-26 per hour
