Job Description:
This is a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) student placement for the 2025 Fall Semester (rotation start dates between September and December). This is an INPATIENT/OUTPATIENT placement.
As a Physical Therapist Assistant Student, you will:
• Provide physical therapy treatments to patients under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist and/or Physical Therapist Assistant to facilitate increased independence and functioning.
• Follow all Powerback Rehabilitation policies and procedures.
• Deliver effective and efficient rehab services, adhering to established plans of care and patient schedules, and document services promptly under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences, representing physical therapy under the direction of the physical therapist and/or Clinical Instructor.
• Work with other rehabilitation team members to implement programs and activities consistent with each patient’s needs and capabilities under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Instruct patients, families, and caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under supervision.
• Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated under supervision.
• Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for equipment repair under supervision.
• Ensure that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere, recognizing individuals’ needs and rights, under supervision.
• Implement patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist with supervision.
• May provide individualized physical therapy treatments including, but not limited to:
• Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training)
• Functional training
• Manual therapy
• Airway clearance techniques
• Integumentary repair and protection
• Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities
• Organize and facilitate treatment utilizing the most appropriate mode of delivery, with the physical therapist’s supervision.
