Job Description:

This internship provides a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotics projects directly impacting Amazon’s operations. Interns will collaborate with world-class experts, tackling groundbreaking research problems and contributing to innovative solutions in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).

Responsibilities: The role involves a blend of theoretical and practical application, including:

• Applying theoretical knowledge through experimentation and invention.
• Developing new algorithms using modeling software and programming techniques for complex problems.
• Implementing prototypes and working with massive datasets.
• Utilizing large language models (LLMs), multi-modal models, and modern reinforcement learning techniques, particularly in real-world robotic applications.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions.
• Leveraging expertise in LLMs and multi-modal systems to uncover hidden patterns and drive operational efficiencies.
• Contributing to technical white papers and creating technical roadmaps.
• Driving production-level projects supporting Amazon Science at the intersection of robotics and advanced AI.
• Working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and ever-changing environment.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: 18 years or older; ability to work a minimum of 40 hours/week for a 12-week internship; ability to relocate to the internship location.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with at least one modern language (Java, Python, C++, or C#), including object-oriented design.

Specific Areas of Expertise (Preferred): Robotics, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Causal Inference, Time Series Analysis, Large Language Models, Multi-Modal Models, and Reinforcement Learning.

Location:** Positions are available in several locations across the US, including Bellevue, WA; Boston, MA; Cambridge, MA; New York, NY; Santa Clara, CA; Seattle, WA; Sunnyvale, CA; and San Francisco, CA.

Compensation:** The base pay ranges from $65.38/hr to $102.31/hr depending on location and experience. Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and benefits.

A Day in the Life:** A typical day might involve collaborating with global experts to develop and implement scalable algorithms, developing modeling techniques advancing the state-of-the-art in robotics (especially reinforcement learning), anticipating technological advances, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deploy solutions into production. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to thrive in ambiguity, and a passion for innovation.
