Pharmacy Technician
Summary
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the pharmaceutical care of the inpatients and outpatients of the WellStar Health System. Care may be provided from either a central or satellite pharmacy. Duties include both distributive and clinical activities.

• Transportation
• Missing Doses
• Product Preparation
• IV Admixture
• Aseptic technique
• Room cleaning and restocking
• (ADC) Automatic Dispensing Cabinet
• User
• Product
• Reports
• Minor Maintenance
• Restock
• Recall
• Miscellaneous Activities
• Rotate through all work areas of the pharmacy
• Prepackaging and bar-coded medications
• Provide customer service
• Make rounds and retrieve discontinued or discharged patient’s medication
• Process all charges
• Replenish inventory and stock shelves
• Train and mentor new technicians
• Clinical Activities
• Evaluating and monitoring drug regimens for appropriateness
• Interpreting physician’s orders and screening them for interactions
• Entering orders into the pharmacy computer system
• Dispensing medications
• Providing education to clinical areas
Qualifications
• Required Minimum Education: Registered or graduate of an accredited pharmacy school
• Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
• Georgia intern license
• In good standing with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy
• Required Minimum Experience: Oriented and knowledgeable in the functions of a pharmacy
• Required Minimum Skills:
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
• Strong customer service attitude
• Moderate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
