Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Intern assists the Pharmacist in the efficient and accurate preparation, dispensing, and delivery of pharmaceuticals and supplies under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and according to established policies and procedures. They will consult with medical staff, nurses, and other healthcare providers to coordinate the delivery of pharmaceuticals to patients under general supervision. The Pharmacy Intern will participate in educational programs and projects designed to improve the clinical and operational components of the department, and to develop their philosophy relative to their responsibility in providing optimum care for the patient. The depth and magnitude of the Intern’s involvement is directly related to their academic standing or year of professional education.
Responsibilities:
• Assists Pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications.
• Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas.
• Consults with medical staff, nurses, and other healthcare providers to coordinate the delivery of pharmaceuticals to patients (under supervision).
• Participates in educational programs and projects.
• Maintains accurate records and documentation.
• Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Enrollment in the third year of a professional program at an accredited College of Pharmacy, or equivalent.
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Intern in Michigan.
