Job Description:

Job Title: Pharmacy Intern, Prior Authorizations team

This is a virtual full-time role that offers maximum flexibility and autonomy, with the exception of required in-person training sessions for essential onboarding and skill development. It is crucial to note that candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) to be considered for employment, unless a legal accommodation is granted.

The Pharmacy Intern will join the Prior Authorizations team, offering a unique opportunity to gain insight into medication management and patient care coordination. The role is critical in ensuring patients receive timely access to medications while navigating complex health insurance requirements.

Duration and Hours:
• This internship is ongoing for the duration of pharmacy school.
• It requires 20-40 hours per week, with a minimum of 20 hours per week, including some weekends and holidays.

How You Will Make An Impact:
Assist in reviewing and processing prior authorization requests for medications.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to secure approvals for prescribed medications.
Verify patient information and insurance coverage to support authorization submissions.
Help maintain accurate records and documentation of prior authorization requests and outcomes.
Support the prior authorization team in identifying process improvements to enhance service delivery.
Stay updated on changes in pharmacy laws and insurance guidelines affecting prior authorizations.

Minimum Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program; completion of at least 1 year preferred.
Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, including some weekends and holidays.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with pharmacy practice, medication therapy, and insurance processes is a plus.
Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
