Job Title: Pharmacy Business Analytics Intern

Location:
This role requires associates to work from the posted locations full-time, enabling consistent face-to-face collaboration, teamwork, and direct engagement. This policy promotes an environment built on in-person interaction, communication, and immediate support.
The primary locations are:

  • Norfolk, VA
  • Mason, OH
  • Wallingford, CT

Note on Location Policy: Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. About the Role:
As a Pharmacy Business Analytics Intern, you will be an integral part of our CarelonRx team, dedicated to identifying inefficiencies, mitigating risks, and implementing new strategic solutions for business improvement within the pharmacy sector. This summer internship offers a unique opportunity to engage in innovative work, leveraging new tools and technologies to drive better care for our members, greater value for our customers, and improved healthcare for our communities.

You will have the chance to translate basic business needs into functional business requirements, meticulously collect and analyze existing business processes to document current workflows, and collaborate closely with technical partners. Your work will ensure a seamless transition of business requirements into technical specifications, based on acceptance criteria for broader, positive impact.

How You Will Make An Impact (Key Responsibilities):

  • Analyze large-scale and complex data sets from reports to develop strategic recommendations for business improvement.
  • Review and interpret business reports to uncover the underlying story within the data, translating insights for business stakeholders.
  • Analyze medical cost trends to determine contributing factors.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of materials for meetings.
  • Present project results and findings to various audiences.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal business leaders and stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
  • Ability to work in-office 5 days per week at one of the posted locations.
  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related program.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, And Experiences:

  • Proficiency within the Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong preference for advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on public speaking.
  • Demonstrated interest in process improvements and the healthcare industry.
  • Familiarity with Visio or other data visualization/workflow tools.

Hybrid Workforce Strategy: While this specific internship is full-time in-office, Elevance Health generally operates on a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week.
