Job Description: Personal Systems Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Intern
This is a 12-week paid summer internship within HP’s Personal Systems organization. The team focuses on creating a digital experience ecosystem through advancements in computing, AI, and machine learning, immersive peripherals, and expanded digital services.
Responsibilities:
• Document and test new AI/ML software applications.
• Assess new application ideas for the AI/ML domain.
• Enhance existing products and create new product designs using AI/ML.
• Develop applications (coding and programming).
• Ensure quality and performance assurance of AI/ML applications.
• Participate in cutting-edge deep learning research.
• Generate data and fine-tune models to improve performance metrics.
• Identify unique AI solutions for the gaming ecosystem.
• Apply data analysis techniques (balancing class distributions, outlier removal, noise reduction) for supervised AI model training.
• Develop generative AI solutions for edge devices.
• Create an AI assistant for HP security software to explain security features.
• Test and optimize fine-tuned small language models (SLMs) on Windows PCs.
• Assess the user experience of AI models on edge devices.
• Work on Agentic AI Experience: large multimodal model compression and acceleration, conversational interface, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), visual and spatial understanding.
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a university degree program: 3rd year of Bachelor’s completed, 1st year of Master’s completed, or PhD candidate (technical degree specialization).
• Preferred majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, C/C++, or C#.
• Experience with AI models (Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, etc.).
• Experience with tools like Tableau, GitHub, and Jupyter Notebook.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (Caffe, Caffe2, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Good technical judgment, initiative, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Solution-oriented, creative, customer-centric approach.
• Teamwork skills, self-motivation, and creative problem-solving abilities.
