Job Description: P&C Actuarial Intern

Overview:
As a State Farm intern, you will be fully immersed in the day-to-day operations, collaborating with experienced professionals and contributing to meaningful projects that have a real impact. The internship program provides students with valuable training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Responsibilities (“A Day In The Life Of An Intern”):
Interns in the P&C Actuarial Department complete innovative and meaningful project work in a collaborative environment. The role focuses on developing both technical and business skills, complementing academic learning. Interns provide analysis and solutions through:
Assessment of risk and financial needs for insurance products.
Development of innovative methods and applications to enhance insurance product pricing.
Data mining and predictive modeling, utilizing techniques such as regression, forecasting, and machine learning.
Research on emerging industry trends and current topics.
Professional development through extensive training programs, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications:
State Farm is seeking college students with:
Majors: Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or other analytical fields.
Actuarial Exams: Successful completion of at least one Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exam.
GPA: A GPA of 3.5 or higher is preferred, with a minimum requirement of 3.25 (unofficial transcripts required with application).
Technical Experience: Experience with data and statistical analysis using tools such as Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python.
Career Intent: An intention to earn the ACAS/FCAS designation.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

What You Can Expect / Program Details:
Internship Dates: The program runs for 10 weeks, from Monday, June 1, 2026, to Friday, August 7, 2026.
Hours: Interns are expected to work 38.75 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Full availability throughout the short duration of the program, with minimal disruptions, is expected.
Pay: The hourly rate is $30, with an additional $1 per hour for each actuarial exam passed.
Stipend: Eligible interns will also receive a $2,000 stipend.
Work Arrangement: This is a Hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. Interns must be able to travel to their assigned office location and reside within the continental U.S. for the duration of the internship. Work arrangements are subject to change based on business needs.
Hub Locations: The primary office locations are Bloomington, IL; Dunwoody, GA; Richardson, TX; and Tempe, AZ.
Internship Program Eligibility: Applicants must be full-time students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or post-graduate program throughout the entire duration of the internship. Additionally, they must have at least one semester of college remaining after the summer of 2026, express a desire to work for State Farm upon graduation, and be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately (employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization such as H-1B visas for this opportunity).
