Payroll Clerk
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team in Brewster, New York. This role involves overseeing payroll operations for a multi-location manufacturing company with approximately 140 employees. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining personnel records, and assisting with various HR-related tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and biweekly payroll with precision for a multi-location manufacturing company, ensuring strict compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Accurately enter, calculate, and reconcile payroll data within the Human Capital Management (HCM) system, proactively addressing discrepancies and ensuring accuracy in general ledger accounts.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, providing clear guidance on timesheets, pay statements, and leave requests.
- Maintain and organize comprehensive personnel records, including crucial training documentation and health and safety files.
- Collaborate effectively with third-party administrators to update and manage federal and state payroll tax requirements.
- Assist with benefits administration and handle account reconciliations, diligently resolving any inconsistencies.
- Provide dedicated support to the HR department with payroll-related tasks and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes.
- Train employees on payroll systems and procedures to enhance understanding and efficiency across the organization.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant payroll laws and regulations, adapting promptly to changes as needed.
- Provide additional support for HR and payroll projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1-3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience; familiarity with Human Capital Management (HCM) systems is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive payroll situations professionally and effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and superior organizational abilities to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improving payroll operations and streamlining processes.
- Solid knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards.
- Experience with payroll for medium-sized organizations, including managing garnishments and benefits administration.
