Patient Transporter | Emory Healthcare

The Tone:
This is an in-person role at Emory Healthcare, located within its various facilities. Patient Transporters are a critical component in ensuring patients have a positive experience and that services flow efficiently.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transportation: Transport patients, their records, specimens, and equipment to designated areas across the organization.
• Emergency Response: Immediately respond to emergency patient situations, initiating life-saving techniques such as CPR and crisis management as needed.
• Patient Handling: Transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, and diagnostic equipment with careful consideration to minimize disruption.
• Equipment Management: Maintain and manage transport-related equipment, including organizing service requests for its upkeep and repair.
• Patient Safety: Ensure the safety and security of patients’ personal property, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to specialized safety measures for areas like MRI.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are mentioned; however, the ability to lift 75 pounds is essential, and post-hire training will cover patient moving techniques, PPE use, and equipment care.
• Skills: Ability to initiate emergency life-saving techniques (such as CPR), safe operation of patient stretcher lifts, and adherence to specific safety protocols like MRI safety training.
• Bonus: BLS certification is preferred upon hiring in some areas, while other areas will provide this training post-hire.
