The team on these units is composed of registered nurses, patient/student nurse technicians, and various medical professionals including residents, interns, and other house staff.
Job Description
Role Purpose
This role involves providing multi-skilled, direct patient care under the direct supervision of a registered professional nurse. Candidates must have completed a foundational nursing skills course or its equivalent, such as fundamentals, foundations, or adult/pediatric health.
Responsibilities
• Assists nurses with patient and family education.
• Accurately documents all provided patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Acts as a 1:1 patient safety sitter when necessary.
• Ensures the availability of necessary supplies and equipment to meet patient needs.
• Implements direct patient care as supervised by the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, reporting any abnormal findings immediately to the nurse.
• Instructs patients regarding preparations for tests and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
• Education: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.
• Experience: No prior experience is required.
• Supervisor Experience: No prior supervisor experience is required.
• Clinical Completion: Must have completed one (1) semester of a fundamental medical/surgical clinical.
• Availability:
• Minimum of 2 shifts every six weeks.
• Rotating shifts, including Days (7 am-7 pm) and Nights (7 pm-7 am).
• Requires Holiday Rotation.
• Requires Weekend Rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
• Education: Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
