Role: Part-time Social Media Assistant

Team/Department: Simpson Athletics Communication team

Objective of the Role: To significantly elevate the visibility of Simpson Athletics programs. This position involves assisting with daily social media operations, supporting content creation and scheduling, and effectively telling the stories of student-athletes, coaches, and teams across various digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Planning & Creation: Assist in the planning, creation, and scheduling of diverse social media content, including graphics, videos, photos, and captions.
Platform Management: Distribute content across key social media platforms such as Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok.
Event Coverage: Provide real-time updates, highlight clips, and behind-the-scenes content for select home athletic events.
Campaign Support: Contribute to ongoing campaign efforts and recurring content series that highlight team successes, individual achievements, and broader department initiatives.
Content Sourcing & Collaboration: Work closely with coaches, student-athletes, and other athletics communication staff to source compelling content.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor social media trends, engagement metrics, and analytics to continuously optimize reach and performance.
Brand Consistency: Ensure all content maintains a consistent voice and style that aligns with the established Simpson Athletics branding and values.

Qualifications:

Social Media Expertise: A strong understanding of various social media platforms, current trends, and effective content strategies.
Design & Editing Skills: Basic proficiency in graphic design or video editing, with experience using tools such as Gipper, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.
Communication Skills: Excellent writing and overall communication abilities.
Work Ethic: Reliable, organized, and self-motivated.
Availability: Ability to work some nights and weekends to cover athletic events.
Preferred Background: An interest or prior background in athletics, sports communication, or a related field is preferred.
