The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Blaszkow Legal, PLLC, an established and expanding personal injury law firm located in Alexandria, VA. The firm, which began in 1992, is a small yet aggressive and tech-savvy team dedicated to fighting vigorously for injured clients across Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. This Paralegal position is critical for the firm’s growth, playing a key role in optimizing client recoveries through innovative, “outside the box” solutions and providing a client-centric approach that consistently earns five-star reviews. The TL;DR
• Role: Early Career (This is not an entry-level position; a minimum of 1 year of personal injury practice experience is required for this integral role.)
• Type: Full-time (This position may occasionally require weekend and evening work.)
• Location: In-person, Alexandria, VA (The main office is conveniently located off Edsall Road in the West Alexandria / Springfield area, offering free and ample parking.)
• Pay: $48000–$60000 yearly (Base salary is dependent on qualifications and experience, supplemented by reachable monthly performance bonuses and participation bonuses for business brought to the firm.)
• Team: Works as part of a motivated, small, and aggressive team, reporting to managing attorneys and collaborating with trained office support personnel.
• Mission: Serve as a superlative advocate for injured clients, managing cases from initial intake through all stages of litigation to achieve optimal client recoveries.
• Tech Stack: Simple file management system

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Intake and Evaluation: Conduct thorough intake interviews with new clients and perform comprehensive evaluations of their cases, identifying what actions have been taken and what further steps are necessary.
• Pre-Litigation Management: Actively review and manage cases during the pre-litigation phase, meticulously ensuring that all required medical records are received and investigations are thoroughly completed.
• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact, facilitating effective communication with clients, insurance adjusters, and other staff members, ensuring all parties are informed.
• Case Strategy and Advising: Evaluate the potential for case resolution and the need for litigation, providing essential briefings and advice to managing attorneys on case postures and anticipated outcomes.
• Legal Document Preparation: Prepare and draft a variety of legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, correspondence, and other necessary court filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role is not entry-level; candidates must possess prior experience in personal injury practice, which can include plaintiff, defense, or workers’ compensation law. A bachelor’s degree or a paralegal certificate is preferred but not strictly required.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of direct experience in personal injury practice is a mandatory qualification. Furthermore, familiarity with civil procedure in Virginia, Maryland, and/or the District of Columbia is essential.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A critical skill is the capacity to build strong rapport and interact effectively with clients, providing excellent customer service.
• Bonus: Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly emphasized and will be rewarded with a translation bonus. Fluency in other languages such as Amharic, Arabic, or Farsi is also considered a valuable asset.
