This is a full-time role at Lewis Brisbois, located in the Houston, TX office. This critical role supports a team of attorneys by expertly managing essential litigation tasks, including meticulous document handling and strategic preparation for court proceedings. The successful paralegal will play a direct role in maintaining the efficiency of legal processes and contributing significantly to the firm’s ongoing client success and reputation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Attorney Support: Work for a minimum of four attorneys, providing dedicated and comprehensive paralegal support across their diverse litigation caseloads.
• Calendaring & Deadlines: Manage all aspects of calendaring, meticulously tracking and ensuring adherence to court deadlines, attorney schedules, and client commitments.
• Document Lifecycle Management: Handle all phases of document management, which includes the thorough review of existing documents, the creation of new materials, and the systematic organization of all case-related files.
• Discovery & Pleadings Preparation: Compile and organize critical information required for the accurate and timely preparation of discovery responses, interrogatories, pleadings, and motions.
• Deposition & Trial Readiness: Facilitate and support the preparation for depositions and assist extensively with all necessary tasks for trial, ensuring attorneys are fully equipped.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a Bachelor’s degree or a Paralegal Certificate. It is important to note that a certificate may be a mandatory requirement depending on regional regulations, specific state mandates, or particular client stipulations. Foundational knowledge in litigation practices is essential for this role.
• Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of proven work experience specifically within a litigation environment is a prerequisite for this position. This experience should demonstrate a clear understanding of legal procedures and case management.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular emphasis on strong Excel skills. Candidates must possess exceptional organizational capabilities, alongside superior written and verbal communication skills. The ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines, prioritize a demanding workload, and adapt to flexible and potentially fluctuating work hours is also required. This role also carries an annual billable requirement of 1,600 hours.
