The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Restaurant Brands International, located in an unspecified location where 5 days of onsite work are required. Restaurant Brands International is a global leader in quick-service restaurants, managing four iconic brands including TIM HORTONS®, BURGER KING®, POPEYES®, and FIREHOUSE SUBS®. This role is crucial for ensuring the legal and operational compliance of the company’s restaurants by diligently managing essential licensing and permitting activities. The Paralegal plays a key part in supporting the legal department’s mission to maintain the smooth and compliant operation of its extensive restaurant portfolio.

• Mission: To coordinate and manage restaurant licensing, permitting, and regulatory compliance activities to provide essential support to the Legal Department.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), Company’s permitting software, new legal and permitting software systems
What You’ll Actually Do
• Licensing Management: Coordinate and manage the renewal of health, business, and operational licenses and permits for all Company-owned restaurants.
• Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate licensing records and operate the Company’s permitting software to meticulously track renewals and compliance requirements.
• Violation Resolution Support: Review, monitor, and coordinate legal support for restaurant violations, including routing information to internal stakeholders, tracking response deadlines, processing fine payments, and coordinating appearances at agency hearings.
• Legal File Management: Organize, maintain, and consistently update Legal Department files and records in strict accordance with departmental standards.
• Financial Administration: Coordinate the ordering of checks for legal payment obligations and accurately process all invoices related to legal services, licenses, and permits.
• Regulatory Inquiry Response: Research and respond to internal inquiries concerning licensing, permitting, and various regulatory compliance matters.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A paralegal certificate from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant work experience is also required.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm is preferred. Experience supporting licensing, permitting, or regulatory compliance matters is considered a significant advantage.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding environment. Candidates must also demonstrate strong client service orientation, sound judgment, strict confidentiality, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bonus: An Associate’s degree or completion of a two-year college program is preferred.
