Paralegal | KBRA

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at KBRA, located in New York, New York. KBRA is a full-service credit rating agency providing ratings used by investors for regulatory capital purposes across multiple jurisdictions. This position is crucial for the Legal Department, focusing on enhancing legal operations, improving processes, and ensuring compliance across various critical areas from contract management to corporate governance.

• Team: Reports to Legal Department members, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Finance, Technology, and Senior Management.
• Mission: This person will enhance legal operations, manage contracts, improve processes, and ensure compliance for KBRA by working closely with the Legal Department and business teams.
• Tech Stack: Contract management systems, document management systems, workflow tools, GenAI-enabled tools, Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Contracts: Maintain and improve KBRA’s contract management systems and processes, assisting with the review, drafting, negotiation, execution, organization, and administration of commercial, vendor, and NDA agreements.
• Implement Legal Technology: Identify, evaluate, and deploy new legal technologies and processes, including contract and document management systems, workflow tools, and GenAI-enabled tools, to increase efficiency and collaboration.
• Address Data Privacy: Work closely with Legal and Information Security teams to manage privacy and cybersecurity inquiries, including responding to customer requests for information concerning KBRA’s compliance with relevant laws.
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Gain familiarity with and support adherence to the regulatory framework applicable to credit rating agencies, assisting with compliance efforts and organizing documents for submission to regulators.
• Support Corporate Governance: Manage and organize the production and distribution of materials for board and committee meetings, maintain the online board portal, and track completion of board documents such as minutes and consents.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Paralegal certificate and/or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: Five or more years of relevant experience as a corporate paralegal, contracts paralegal, contract manager, or similar role within a law firm, in-house legal department, or professional/financial services organization; experience with contract management systems, administration, and legal review processes.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines; comfortable using technology to improve legal department workflows.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and general productivity.
