The Tone:
This is a full-time role at an established law firm, located in the vibrant Dadeland area of Miami, FL. The firm specializes in defense and personal injury litigation, offering a critical opportunity for a skilled paralegal to integrate into their dedicated team. This position is central to the litigation process, requiring a professional who can provide comprehensive support to attorneys, ensuring efficient case management from initial stages through rigorous trial preparation, thereby directly contributing to the firm’s legal success and client satisfaction.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Progression & Hearings: Assist attorneys with comprehensive case management, guiding files from initial inception through all phases of trial preparation, including scheduling and support for hearings, depositions, and the ultimate trial proceedings.
• Factual Research & Medical Summaries: Conduct thorough factual investigations and meticulously review, analyze, and summarize complex medical records, subsequently preparing clear and concise medical chronologies for attorney use.
• Discovery Management & Document Drafting: Aid in the preparation of legal documents by drafting discovery requests and responses, organizing analytical insights, and drafting various other legal documents as required for case progression. This also includes summarizing depositions to extract key information.
• Trial Preparation & Document Production: Manage and organize extensive volume document production, indexing materials efficiently. This involves preparing detailed witness and expert files for depositions and compiling comprehensive witness and exhibit lists in preparation for trial.
• Stakeholder Communication & Case Organization: Maintain effective and professional communication channels with clients and external vendors. Proactively communicate the status of ongoing projects to attorneys in a timely manner, while also effectively organizing and managing a diverse caseload.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a robust understanding of both state and federal court procedures, coupled with core domain knowledge in defense and personal injury litigation. The role demands strong experience in the creation and analysis of medical summaries and chronologies.
• Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in defense/personal injury litigation is essential. This includes demonstrated proficiency and experience with medical summaries and chronologies.
• Skills: Proficiency in key legal software including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) and Pacer is a must. The ability to manage time-sensitive deadlines effectively and consistently exercise sound judgment is also crucial for success in this role.
• Bonus: A working understanding of medical terminology is strongly preferred for this position.
