Paralegal – Fiduciary Litigation | Jackson Walker LLP

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Jackson Walker LLP, located in Houston, TX. Jackson Walker is Texas’ largest law firm, serving clients across diverse legal needs. This role is crucial for assisting attorneys in all phases of fiduciary litigation, ensuring comprehensive support from initial client interviews to trial and appeal. The position significantly contributes to the efficient and effective progression of complex legal cases.

• Mission: Assist attorneys through all stages of fiduciary litigation, ensuring efficient case progression and compliance.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft 365 – Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel; Relativity or other e-Discovery platform; Westlaw; Lexis

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate case initiation by organizing client data, investigating factual matters, arranging service of process, and managing critical deadlines.
• Manage the discovery process, including drafting requests for admissions, production, disclosure, and interrogatories, while reviewing documents for relevancy and privilege.
• Prepare thoroughly for pre-trial activities by scheduling witnesses, organizing trial notebooks, drafting pre-trial motions, and assisting with trial brief preparation.
• Support attorneys effectively during trial by handling witness subpoenas, managing exhibits, summarizing testimony, and planning daily strategies.
• Handle post-trial procedures, including maintaining appellate timetables, assisting with brief preparation, verifying satisfaction of judgment, and collection work.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Paralegal certification is required, along with a high school diploma or GED. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, and substantial equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree or certification.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a law firm, with demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within fiduciary litigation practice area.
• Skills: Proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), proficient skill level with Relativity or other e-Discovery platforms, working knowledge of legal document formatting and editing, ability to perform legal research using Westlaw or Lexis, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Bonus: Ability to travel locally and nationally in private or public transportation.
